Meridith and Christopher
“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.” – Jacques Yves Cousteau Meridith’s first cruise was before she was even born. Meridith’s mother was nine month’s pregnant, along with her father, and older sister and they were just moments too late pulling up to New York harbor. The majestic Queen Elizabeth 2 had blasted it’s final fog horn and began to set sail for the transatlantic voyage. The captain extended a courtesy and carried the growing family in a tugboat to meet the ship. That was Meridith’s first cruise while still in her mother’s tummy. It was then that she first was introduced to the adventurous method of traveling via sea that would later become a central love of Meridith’s. Throughout her childhood she would go on many more voyages with her family across the Pacific, Atlantic, Baltic, and Mediterranean Seas and she was happiest while sailing from port to port. Meridith introduced her love of the ocean to her love Christopher after he proposed on October 20th 2012. They departed from Miami and set sail for the Bahamas. He was adamant he would become seasick and hate the confines of the cabin but agreed to support his fiancé. Christopher became enamored with the voyage within moments of sailing. Together they rented scooters in Nassau, sipped tropical drinks, walked along the decks and Christopher won a dancing contest at Senor Frog’s. Within two days the ship sailed into the center of Hurricane Sandy. The decks closed and salty water poured into decks one and two. Despite the choppy water they withstood the bad weather and Chris still was not sick! The two decided they wanted to have many more adventures and to do it together (preferably by sea). -- We are so excited to invite our friends and family to join us in Newport Beach to celebrate our vows as we all board a yacht together and sail along the (calm) Newport bay. Thereafter we will fly to Rio to board another boat and sail to Spain. We want to involve all of you in our trip and invite you to follow our adventures to three continents: South America, Africa, and Europe over 18 days. Instead of blenders, pots, and pans we ask you to contribute to our memories and see our itinerary below where you can contribute to the toasts, dinners, and excursions that we will have together as husband and wife. In turn we will be sharing photos and videos from our honeymoon with all of those who are near and dear so you can come along for the ride. Bon Voyage and let the adventure begin…! xx Meridith & Christopher ITINERARY Date Port Arrive Depart MAR 10 MON RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL 5:00 PM MAR 11 TUE CRUISE THE COAST OF BRAZIL MAR 12 WED SALVADOR DE BAHIA, BRAZIL 1:00 PM 9:00 PM MAR 13 THU CRUISE THE COAST OF BRAZIL MAR 14 FRI RECIFE, BRAZIL 8:00 AM 5:00 PM MAR 15 SAT CRUISE THE ATLANTIC OCEAN MAR 16 SUN CRUISE THE ATLANTIC OCEAN MAR 17 MON CRUISE THE ATLANTIC OCEAN MAR 18 TUE CRUISE THE ATLANTIC OCEAN MAR 19 WED DAKAR, SENEGAL 8:00 AM 5:00 PM MAR 20 THU CRUISE THE ATLANTIC OCEAN MAR 21 FRI CRUISE THE ATLANTIC OCEAN MAR 22 SAT LAS PALMAS, SPAIN 8:00 AM 8:00 PM MAR 23 SUN LANZAROTE, CANARY ISLANDS, SPAIN 8:00 AM 6:00 PM MAR 24 MON CRUISE THE ATLANTIC OCEAN MAR 25 TUE TANGIER, MOROCCO 9:00 AM 6:00 PM MAR 26 WED MÁLAGA (GRANADA), SPAIN 8:00 AM 6:00 PM MAR 27 THU CRUISE THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA MAR 28 FRI BARCELONA, SPAINRio, Brazil Spain Avalon, New Jersey Spain Barcelona, Spain
