Ruth and John
Thank you for visiting our wedding registry! As you probably know, we love to travel! For our honeymoon, we decided to venture to a new continent and experience a new culture. Since we've been learning French over the last year, we knew Morocco would be the perfect destination (with a brief stop in Paris)! Your gift will help us have a special and memorable trip as we begin our new journey together through life! This registry is also a way to share our plans and journey with our friends and family! We hope you enjoy exploring our registry and travel along with us in spirit! We'll start our journey in the vibrant city of Marrakech, where we'll visit the souks, museums, and visit a nightclub. From there, we'll travel to Imlil, a small mountain village, and enjoy some day-hikes. Then we'll head to Ouarzazate where we'll head out on a desert tour for a couple days on the dunes. Then we'll travel to the small traditional Berber town of Taroudant. Finally, it's off to the white washed coastal town of Essaouira for relaxing on the beach. It's here that we will visit the famous jewelry-makers' souk to find our wedding bands! We'll fly back out of Marrakech through Paris, where we'll spend a day at the Musee D'Orsay, the catacombs, and our favorite Parisian restaurant, Le Chateaubriand, before coming back home.Paris, France Essaouira, Morocco Morocco Marrakesh, Morocco Ouarzazate, Morocco
We'll be flying to Morocco via Paris. We will spend 2 weeks in Morocco, and then on our return trip, we'll spend 4 days in Paris!
We will be staying in Riads (or small hotel with an inner garden), within the medinas (the walled medieval city) of Marrakech.
As part of our desert tour we'll spend the night in Berber tents, and watch the sun set and rise over the dunes!
The souks, or markets, in Morocco are a maze of sights, sounds, and smells! We'll need guides to make sure we find our way back out!
Ruth will be in pancake heaven with the typical Moroccan breakfast of various styles of pancakes and pastries for breakfast!
We'll enjoy delicious Moroccan snacks and lunches at cafes and restaurants, and the occasional food stall, to keep us going!
Grand taxis are the primary means of transport from city to city or village. The usually pack 6 passengers (plus the driver) in one sedan! If we're lucky we can negotiate to have the whole car to o...
We'll enjoy both traditional and modern Moroccan cuisine that reflects diversity of cultures throughout Morocco's history.
Food, cooking, and dining together is one of the most fundamental human activities and plays a central role in the customs of most cultures. We'll take a cooking class that will take us through the...
Moroccan hammams are important places for getting clean, relaxing, and socializing. We'll unwind from the wedding excitement and travel with a couple visits to the hammans for scrubs and massages!
