Rachel and Ryan
We are getting married on July 12th in Grand Lake, CO. On July 29th we will be boarding a plane from San Francisco to start our first year of marriage abroad. We will start in Indonesia. There we will have some beach and honeymoon time. From Indonesia we will be head to Nepal to trek and volunteer. After Nepal, we will make our way to Calcutta, India. We will be volunteering with the Missionaries of Charity, also known as Mother Theresa's house. We are doing this with the intent to provide "wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor." The Missionaries of Charity have 19 homes in Calcutta alone which include homes for women, for orphaned children, and for the dying; an AIDS hospice, a school for street children, and a leper colony. These services are provided, without charge, to people regardless of their religion or social caste. After India we will travel to Uganda. We will live in Uganda for 7 months, serving as the project managers for SOUL Uganda. SOUL works to work to foster sustainable and vibrant Ugandan communities through unique partnerships focused on education, women's empowerment, food security and health. After that we HOPE to go to the Central African Republic to volunteer with ARC. ARC works to provide solutions that create sustainable clean water access and improve water, sanitation and hygiene practices in conflict zones. We are not spring chickens anymore. We are very fortunate to have all of the home goods that we need. We are not taking a traditional approach to our honeymoon or to our first year of marriage so we figured a non-traditional wedding registry was appropriate. This registry is designed to give you an idea of they things that we really need for our first big adventure. If you would like to contribute to our trip, you do not have to use this website. These are just ideas!India Spring Creek, Missouri Indonesia Indonesia Nepal
We will need lodging everywhere we go. We are dreaming big, and hoping to make our lodging in Indonesia the most unforgettable of our trip and not in a sleeping on the floor kinda way.
