Sarah and John
Welcome! Thanks for visiting our Honeymoon Registry. John and I have been living together for almost four years now, and have managed to accrue many nice household goods during that time. We will also be moving sometime in the next two years, so we are currently trying not to amass any more stuff that will have to move with us. In lieu of a traditional registry, we are asking for monetary gifts to help us pay for our honeymoon. To celebrate this new phase in our lives together, we're planning to hike, swim, run, climb, drive, and wine taste our way through New Zealand sometime in early 2015. If you already have a particular idea of what you'd like us to use your gift for, scroll to the bottom and see the heading "Did we Forget Something?" Otherwise, browse our ideas and suggestions for things we'd like to do and see in New Zealand.Waiomio, New Zealand New Zealand Wairakei, New Zealand Kerikeri, New Zealand New Zealand
One of the iconic natural wonders of New Zealand, Milford Sound is best experienced on a boat. We're hoping to seeing some seals, penguins, and dolphins!
It wouldn't be a honeymoon with Sarah Rovang without at least one architectural geek-out. She would love to go on a walking tour of Napier, the self-proclaimed "Art Deco Capital of the World."
Our favorite wines are sauvignon blancs from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. We are hoping to time our trip to coincide with their yearly wine festival in February.
After a long day of hiking, we're looking forward to relaxing at some of New Zealand's many hot springs, including Hammer Springs.
As an homage to Sarah's parents, who spent part of their honeymoon over 30 years ago at the Sofitel in Minneapolis, we'd love to spend a night at the luxurious Sofitel in Queenstown.
We are ready to get in the waters and do some snorkeling! It sounds like there are few better places than Poor Knights, a series of islands off the northern coast. We're excited to see some sub-tro...
On our previous camping escapade in Costa Rica, we used and enjoyed the down sleeping bags that belonged to John's dad many years ago. For New Zealand, we're hoping to invest in some lighter-weigh...
Brancott is one of our favorite sauvignon blancs and their estate offers a tour of the surrounding land (including an opportunity to see the rare New Zealand falcon) as well as a tasting of the reg...
We are planning to rent a car for at least part of our time in New Zealand. We might even rent a camper trailer so we can have a portable base for some of our hikes and other adventures!
Hiking (or "tramping" in New Zealand-speak) places like the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing will require some special equipment and we plan to come prepared! Sarah would like to buy some trekking...
Fulfilling one of Sarah's longstanding dreams to "camp" comfortably (what some have termed "glamping"), we'd love to spend a night on a lovely garden property in safari tents in Northland.
One of the most thermally active sites in the world, Wairakei Terraces is also hope to a recreated Maori village that welcomes visitors to partake in a traditional meal (called hangi).
John and Sarah don't go spelunking often, but when they do, bioluminescence had better be involved! We'd love to check out the famous glow worms of the Kawiti Caves.
John and Sarah have gotten quite good at navigating the rental site AirBnB. This beautifully restored house truck(!) on Wainui Bay really caught their eye. There's a fantastic outdoor bathtub and b...
We're still pretty new to this whole adventure travel game and maybe we're forgetting something. Is there something not on the list that you'd like us to use your gift for? Choose this gift and dro...
